Summer Children’s Services Librarian, Job # 2026-001

Trent Hills Public Library is seeking a people-oriented individual to work at all branches as a Summer Children’s Services Librarian. The successful applicant will be required to work with a very high degree of accuracy, exercise tact and independent judgment in accordance with library policy and must possess demonstrated respect and appreciation for patrons of all ages.

The successful applicant will be between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment, and be legally entitled to work in Canada. The position will be a minimum of 8 weeks (starting July 1, 2026) or a maximum of 12 weeks (starting June 8, 2026) depending on the availability of the applicant, with the position ending on August 28, 2026.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee the Summer Reading Club
  • Deliver programs to children and young teens to promote literacy and reading, including special community programs and events
  • Support the Summer Reading Club and programming initiatives with promotion, communication and outreach initiatives, helping to increase awareness of and engagement with Library services, spaces and resources

Qualifications:

  • Available to work in all branches of the Trent Hills Public Library (Campbellford, Hastings, and Warkworth)
  • Available to work days, evenings and weekends
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • The successful applicant will: have proven customer service and organizational skills, possess excellent communication skills, be creative with an interest in community activities, and have strong Internet/ computer skills.

Wage Rate: $ 17.60 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week. Hours and location are subject to change at any time.
Base Location: Campbellford Branch (98 Bridge St. E, Campbellford)
